The museum isn't just a place to have fun: there's method to our madness! Kids 'N' Stuff takes its cues from the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood development. That means we believe:
Children are capable of constructing their own learning. That's why our exhibits are constructed to be child-accessible and have very little need for instruction.
Children form an understanding of themselves and their place in the world through interactions with others. Kids 'N' Stuff emphasizes dramatic play and whole-family interaction to facilitate this type of learning.
Children are communicators. You may notice open-ended questions posted through the museum to help start conversations with your children.
The environment is the third teacher. We strive to keep our museum environment in top shape so our little learners can explore and create with the materials and exhibits we've provided.
The adult is the mentor and guide. Parents are encouraged to leave work at home and disconnect from technology while at the museum so they can be active partners in their child's learning.
Children speak in a hundred languages. Not all communication is verbal: some children speak using art, music, dramatic play, and movement. We strive to include creative outlets for all types of voices.
