Featured at this year’s VegFest are a stunning array of Southeast Michigan area singer/songwriters. Many are local recording artists and performers who will be performing primarily original, acoustic-based music. Featured artists are Milan Seth, Phil McMillion, Stuart Benbow, Melissa Welsh and Willow Martin, Kandy Fredrick, Bobby Pennock, Mary and Jerry Brooks, Wolf Tytschkowski, and Scott Fishkind.
The Southeast Michigan music scene has long been a creative haven that has welcomed a wide variety of musical artists. The supportive and collaborative atmosphere is reminiscent of the Laurel Canyon era of the mid 1960s which gave rise to the singer-songwriter phenomenon.
These artists carry on that tradition of musical troubadaurs, expressing their personal life experiences and vision into their music.
VegMichigan President Tom Progar shared that,
Plant-based eating has exploded in popularity and there are no signs that this trend is slowing down as more grocery stores, restaurants, and college campuses are adding plant-based options to their menus. Individuals are deciding that eating more plant-based meals is a good idea. Many of us are learning that plant-based meals can lower our carbon footprint because meat and cheese are some of the highest carbon-intensive foods. Still, others are concerned about the treatment of farm animals. In addition, many Michiganders are looking to eat healthier. We invite you to join us at VegFest to learn more about the benefits of plant-based eating and see for yourself the large variety of plant-based foods available and how delicious plant-based eating can be.
