This 20-acre wood lot is situated along Okemos Road between Lake Lansing and Haslett roads. The park has an beautiful open water wetland that is vital to the wildlife, a hardwood forest including old beech trees, and colorful wildflowers such as Trillium and Jack-in-the-pulpit. A nature trail was constructed as part of an Eagle Scout project in 1997 and a small parking lot was added in 2006.
Brattin Woods was purchased in 1996 for $100,000 from Margaret Brattin, the Estate of John Brattin, with Park Millage funds. The park is named after John Brattin, who was a prominent Lansing-area attorney for more than 55 years. He was a tireless worker in church and community programs and a nature enthusiast.
