The Children's Museum of Branch County began as an idea during a fundraiser event at one of the local elementary schools. Three volunteer moms were working on that particular fundraiser and began talking about their desires to have something more to offer to their local community. They realized a need for social and educational opportunities in this rural county. They shared that vision and businesses, civic organizations, and other families also saw that need.
What started out as a simple idea has grown over the past several years as these dreams started to become a reality, and in June 2014 the Children's Museum of Branch County opened its doors. There are currently over 25 exhibits, including a fully stocked art center, literacy nook, human body exhibits, and many math and science activities. The museum features a toddler room, complete with a Lego table. An interactive city allows children pretend to be Veterinarians, chefs, bankers, and more.
Our mission is to develop and operate an innovative children’s museum and collaborative discovery facility to serve families in Branch County and the tri-state region. Our vision is to provide a dynamic location for discovery, education and imagination, sparking a passion for life-long learning. We value education for all ages, a respect for each other and our differences, family interaction, stretching of the imagination, leadership, accountability, and collaborations that strengthen our community.
