After fifteen years of operation, after much thought and deliberation, we have decided to shut down MIFUN4u.com, effective 1-1-25. We thank all those who used our web site, and especially those who advertised with us. It was a pleasure to help promote over 3000 Michigan Events & Attractions, we enjoyed providing this information.

The name "Grand Marais" literally translates to "Great Marsh", but research has failed to locate a marsh here. On an occasional early French map it is shown as "le Grand Maré", meaning a safe harbor. In French, "Maré" and "Marais" are pronounced the same, and it is believed that "Marais" is a mapmaker error that came into common usage through repetition.
