The Nara Nature Park is located two miles east of the Michigan Tech University campus on the east end of the Houghton's Waterfront Trail. There is a variety of activities for every season to do at the Nara Nature Park, including walking, biking, and skiing on the Peepsock Trails. The Peepsock trails are about a mile long and follows the Peepsock creek to the Portage Lake Shoreline, and connects to the Michigan Tech Trails. You can also catch numerous fish in the many ponds and lakes located within the park. For the winter time, you can go down the sledding hill that it located off of the trails. You can visit The chalet house. Additionally the chalet house contains an interpretive display featuring different plant species and wildlife within the Nara Nature Park. The building also has a fireplace, restrooms with showers, and a concession area.
