In 2010, K & K Farms Group purchased the 80-acre farm from the Lee family. It was easy to envision the great potential for the farm which at one time grew cherries, grain crops, and potatoes. The northern region of Michigan offers a unique micro-climate for the great diversity of crops grown on the peninsula. The farm is five minutes south of Suttons Bay, offering scenic views of West Grand Traverse Bay and the surrounding farm landscapes. The location, soil, and valley topography of the farm are ideal for growing cider apples, eating apples and wine grapes. Since 2012, thirty-five varieties of cider apples have been planted with the first small harvest in 2016.
On September 21, 2018, Two K Farms tasting room was opened. The tasting room is nestled high on one of the farms hills with an expansive panoramic view of West Grand Traverse Bay. Every point of the tasting room and outside patio offers views of water, terra, vineyards and apple trees. Three steps down from the tasting room deck is the blaze of the fire pit. The farm is managed by George and Max Koskela (K & K brothers), who have a philosophy that the farm should only nurture unique fruit varieties that are known for exceptional hard cider and wine. The tasting room offers estate wine and hard ciders consisting of French, English, American, hopped, and barrel-aged styles. All hard ciders and wines are grown and produced on-site at the farms new processing facilities. Each glass provides a taste and style that originates from the estate fruit grown on the property. There is only one way we strive to create hard cider or wine: pure ingredients, great sun and fresh water, and the knowledge of the fruit and farm. We believe only in the “farm-to-glass” philosophy!
